Marion Lake — Oregon

We headed out to Marion Lake the weekend of July 24th to backpack around the lake. We spent Thursday night at the Big Lake West Campground up near the Hoodoo ski area at the summit, and then drove down to the trailhead on Friday morning. Our plan to to loop around the lake was interrupted after we got ways past the lake and ran into a Forest Ranger and a trail crew working to clear the trail of blown down timber. They told us the trail was obstructed ahead and since the prospect of low-crawling for miles was not appealing, we turned around and spent the night camping near Marion Lake. All photos by Eli Ring.
